Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 9:59AM The latest survey from Randall-Reilly MarketPulse shows that trucking conditions did not change from March to April, as reported by the Commercial Carrier Journal. 48% of executives from the trucking companies surveyed reported that conditions remained the same, while 32% said business was better. Companies are optimistic, as 55% of those surveyed reported that they expected conditions to improve over the next 6 months.
The survey also provide interesting insight as to why some companies do not operate in California. Of the companies that do not operate in California, 57% of those surveyed stated that the state's environmental regulation of heavy duty trucks was the reason that they do not operate in the state.

As reported by TheTrucker.com, 44% of fleet managers worried most about productivity when managing their company's fleet. Meeting company cost savings goals and understainging the impact of new technologies were second and thrid, respectively.

Monday, May 6, 2013 at 1:26PM After losing 6,300 jobs in March, the U.S. trucking industry added 11,700 jobs in April, according to the Associated Press. Trucking continues to show solid growth, with Labor Department statistics showing the addition of almost 150,000 jobs over the past three years.
The increase in jobs has helped to fuel stock gains. Most trucking companies were up today in early trading.
